Just over a year ago, Denver held the crown as one of the nation’s most prosperous cities and following the Great Recession, we had one of the strongest economic recoveries in the U.S. As Denver will see an influx of funding over the next few years to support our economic recovery, we must do more, and more equitably to create an economy for everyone.
We are committed to meet and surpass pre-crisis economic activity while ensuring the benefits of prosperity reach the entire population, including our historically marginalized and most under-resourced residents and businesses.
Disruptions to the economy due to COVID-19 have not affected everyone equally, and many businesses within the construction, restaurant, hospitality, local retail, and tourism industries have also suffered. With equity at the forefront of our work, we will strive to provide relief for those businesses, workers, and communities that have been disproportionately effected.
Denver’s Rebuilding for an Inclusive and Sustainable Economy plan, or RISE Denver, will focus our investments with federal and state funding around five strategic areas including: getting people back to work; supporting small businesses and nonprofits; revitalizing Denver’s neighborhoods; accelerating public investment, and making it easier to do business with Denver.
